I just purchased a 556 nato. 16 inch barrel. It has a 1 and 9 twist. I have the Lee 55 gr mold however I’m hopeful to find a cast bullet that could be used for pigs and coyotes.I’ve heard of a member on here HeavyMetal has a 62 grainer. I’ve also looked on the mp-mold site and they have a 75 grainer. Wish I had some to test but I figured I’d ask here before I just start randomly buying and trying molds. Thanks Nelson.

go into the swap and sell area. Click on the boolit exchange. You will find many people there willing to send, trade or sell you small amounts of almost any mold there is to try.

The SAECO #221 does remarkably well.

I have both the Lyman 225-415, and the NOE 225-62 RN which is designed with a plain base and no lube grooves just for powder coating. Those little pesky gas checks are a pain to seat, even more a pain to make. Don’t ask me how I know. Switching to the NOE, I can make more, faster, and have good results in an AR15, a Mini 14, both are 16” barrels and I get 2250 FPS with 1 MOA. I also have a a 24” single shot which gives me 2450 FPS with the same load, and also 1 MOA. Find and use what works for you, and also consider rpm threshold and weight. My 3 rifles are: AR 1-9”, Mini 14 1-10”, and single shot 1-12”. If I were to purchase another mold, it would possibly be 69 or 75 grains, but I am happy with what I have already. Ymmv.

I tried to compile casting data for AR's from various places in this thread http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?405422-The-cast-223-5-56-for-AR-load-data-compilation-thread

Its by no means done. If you get some results with your experiments and/or find some good info online please post it in there and I'll add it to the database

with 1 in 9 twist 69 grain boolits are max weight i think 1 in 7 twist is needed for heavier.
