I recently came into a used Master Caster (for only 200$). However, both the heaters were dead. I looked around online and was able to find replacements real easily at McMaster Carr for a good price (about 21$/each).

But once I got the heaters installed, the thermostat blew out :(

I've got a replacement coming from Magma to the tune of 43$! OUCH! I'd like to know, for the future, where I might be able to get a compatible thermostat for less, if possible.

The OEM cartridge heaters were about 54$ a pop until I found compatible ones at McMaster for less than half that. Since it appears that the heaters and thermostats on these guys are consumables, I'd love to have a line on less-expensive replacement parts.

Good thermostats are not cheap. $43 is a good price IMO if it is a quality unit.

For the future, what Mcmaster part number did you find as a replacement?

Good to know. I don't feel so bad ordering directly from Magma now :)

I've got an older Master Caster that uses cartridge heaters. They are 5/8"x5", 750W. It uses two of them.

McMaster: 3618K819
$21.25/each
