I've been looking for a holster for my 4-5/8 blackhawk in 357.
I'd like a strong side holster I can wear while sitting down (tractor, or ATV). And I'm having a hard time finding it. Everything I've found to date is a drop-leg cowboy style, or a generic holster that could hold a 8" barreled gun, making the holster too long.

No shoulder holsters please, to many things that I do not intend to shoot would be "covered" when drawing the gun.

Any direction would be appreciated.

I like the Bianchi #1 Lawman for my SA revolvers. The 4 5/8" holster works for me to sit down in my truck, but may not work for others.

I also like the Bianchi holsters, and have a couple of the leather ones. I also like the "Ranger" cordora (sp) strong side holsters, and have two of them for my Security Six's. They are less expensive, stay put, and are much easier than leather to maintain if they get wet, or sweaty. I've tried the Uncle Mikes versions, but they are more generic, and don't stay in position very well. Midway has most of them, and they probably can be ordered directly from Bianchi online.

Here's mine...It's a FA 97 but the holster will fit you BH. It's a Bianchi "Lawman" and I really like it. It was Expensive I think $89 about 7 years ago,(mabe I was ripped off?, I must of had money that day) as you can see it has gone a few miles.

It rides high on your belt so it doesn't really get in your way and the open trigger design lets you get ahold of your gun when you reach for it.

In no particular order, try these makers:

This is the one ya want. Can't remember if it's taboo to post E-bay links or not hope I don't get into trouble for this one I am not in any way affiliated with this sale. No personal experience with them, but Simply Rugged holsters have an excellent reputation and might suit your needs. They are very good quality and are well designed for CCW, to include single action revolvers.

I have their "Sourdough Pancake" model for my 4-5/8" Blackhawk (in.45 Colt). Simply Rugged is an Alaskan company and their holsters are designed to keep guns quickly accessible in a variety of situations.

Not to slight any of the other mentioned makers, but Andrews Custom has gotten my business in the past, and will again in the future. Mr. Andrews produces outstanding quality leather goods.

I think Simply Rugged makes a semi-flap holster that i thought was about perfect.

I got a Simply Rugged pancake also. Works great on my short-barreled Blackhawks. It holds the gun high and close to the body. I also wanted something I could use sitting on a tractor or in my truck. Ted Blocker leather makes a Texas High-Rider that is a different twist also.

I have three simply rugged holsters (k-frame pancake, n-frame pancake, and a tom threepersons copy). Well made practical holsters at a reasonable price. They're UNlined, if that makes a difference to you.

The Threepersons copy is for the 4-5/8 Blackhawk. I cant say enough good about it. I'd happily trade my pancakes for Threepersons copies.

I ordered my sourdough from simply rugged today. Steve, suggested another slot in the holster for the high ride carry. And it will retain the option of standard carry.

Nice folks to deal with.

Said I will have it before the end of the year. Now that's a great turnaround. :drinks:

Thanks for all of the replies.

The very holster I carry my short-barreled Rugers in.
I predict you will be happy with your choice.

A few years ago I found my 4 5/8" Blackhawks would fit in an x-15 shoulder holster for a 6" K frame Smith. The snap wouldn't button but it would fit and the spring would take the stress OK. I had another snap put in near the end so it does double duty when I want to pack on on a shoulder holster. Gianni
