I may be wrong. There was a three page article I believe authored by Beagle. I though I found it on this site. A very good article on his tests with cast bullets fired in 223. I saved it but it got deleted. I have searched this site with no success. Can anyone furnish me with the link to these pages.

Thanks

Glenwood

beagle;

I just enjoyed your three articles. I read them quickly as I have an obligation to attend -- will re-read; but I did not notice your specification for lube. Are you lubing with felix lube or such?

I use Gar's Half and Half lube (alox/beeswax) on all but some special alloy loads I was trying. I experienced no leading problems at all that I could attribute to lube.

With the babbitt alloy/ww mix, I used both the Gar lube and the Felix WFL and drove some to 2600 with good accuracy.

With the WW alloy, once I exceeded 2400 FPS, accuracy went south (almost to the foot) and I experienced some leading with the GAR but attributed that to my exceeding the strength of the alloy.

I found that between 2,000 and 2,200 FPS, accuracy was the best and still shoot them in this range.

I beleive it's quite possible but I haven't tried it yet to approach 3,000 FPS with accuracy with a babbitt alloy mixture but with HP bullets, this is really more than I need and I haven't had time to experiment what with the move to the farm and my increased outside work load. Might be something to try though./beagle
