I remember someone posting a load for shooting unsized .225 55 grain bullets with out the gas check that were just tumbled lubed but I can’t seam to find it again. I was thinking on checking this out with a wax type gas check.

I have used the lee 55 gr design in a .222 but was using a gas check along with ben’s liquid lube. Velocity was 2000 FPS so I felt a g c was necessary; I will try a ladder loading with out the g c and see where the velocity is when accuracy becomes unacceptable. The rifle is a 14” twist 788 Rem and I was using the load on prairie dogs. As far as lubricant/ leading, I was unaware of any problems using three light coats of the BLL.

If shooting at 22 rimfire speeds you may be okay w/o the gc, but any faster and for good accuracy you will need the gc.

I have the Lyman C225-55 RF and the NOE 225-62 RN that has no GC or lube groove specifically for ASBBPC use. I'm getting 2250 from a 16" barrel, and 2450 from a 24". The Mini 14 is an old 180 model so 1-10" twist, the AR15 is 1-9", and the single shot is 1-12" twist. I shoot the same load in each and am grouping 1" at 100 yards. I was surprised at the velocity from the single shot and the slower twist doesn't cause any RPM issues. The 7 1/2" AR 15 pistol is 1-7" and is mostly 2" groups at 100 but mostly gets fired at 25-50 yards at tin cans or steel plates.

My gallery load is four point two grains 700X It's around fifteen hundred feet per second depending on the rifle I use it in . I've used Bullseye with a lesser charge , and velocity . Alloy is range scrap and the powder charge is determined by accuracy . I start low and go up until it is accurate and at these low speeds I think it likes a little faster twist that the older one in twelve .
