Has a Group Buy been done on the Lyman 311465 design? I have a single cavity, I was reading in the Lyman Manual and it was stated (in 30-06 section) that the 311465 is the best bullet for "higher than normal cast velocities" 2500-2600fps. Sounds interesting, and of course it is a Loverin design!

And maybe in the SKS, or related arms?
Anyone know in what cartridge it was originally used?

I would think it would work great as do the other Loverins. Hard to beat those things.

HHhhhhmmmm. I sure thought there would have been more interest in this one.

I don't have a sample of this particular boolit, but maybe this will work. The Lyman "Handbook of Cast Bullets" first edition lists this as being designed by H. Guy Loverin for short range work.

What weight and diameter are we talking here?

The weight is around 120 grains, diameter would be negotiable, I would say .312-313? I don't have my Lyman manual at my fingertips, but I will post some data for .30-06 tomorrow.

I might be interested if the target dia was either .310, .311 or maybe even .312 (I'd rather use this boolit in my american .30's, hopefully unsized but I know alot of folks will be looking for a lighter boolit for their euro .30's). With Lee's tolerences, if its spec'd at .312, and it falls on the large side it wouldn't be terrible useful for me.
I would not be able to caugh up the dough until the end of the year or the first week of the new year. It would be great if we could reach 25, but Its kind of looking like this might be a short run. I'll keep an eye on this, and see what everyone decides for the diameter.
I guess I would be interested, too. A little guy like this has a lot of utility...

I am interested. Are you thinking Lee 6-cav or another vendor in a 2-cav? I'd like this design in a two-cav and lately Lee seems to be having some issues with specials.
Cheers,

Yeah! .......I could use a boolit like that for my SKS "Bunny Gun"!

The data in Lymans 3rd edition of the Cast Bullet Handbook has loads starting at 1567fps with 700X, all the way up to the 2600's with 748, RX7, 2400 and others, that is for the 30-06. The .308 loading is close, with some other powders listed as well. As far as size goes, I would be happy with .311 too, my understanding is that Loverins size easily, and my thinking was to keep as many as possible interested.

Could this bullet be used in the 30 carbine in a Ruger Blackhawk pistol?
Thanks,
Bill

I'll leave that to others with more experience, I don't see why not. There is data for the .30-30, but advice not to shoot in tubular magazines.
If it were 140 or so in weight I would bite.

I like it! Had an old lyman 311456 mold but it was "cleaned up" by someone and they rounded all the edges where the halves split. Never tried it just put it back in the land of evil bay.
I'll take one or two maybe. Have three boys growing up and need lots of plinking ammo!

I could go for this one in Lee 6 banger also. Perhaps a small flat on the tip to increase hunting potential but not large enough to interfere with autoloading would be nice. I'm thinking 30 carbine here.

I would be interested in this one. I was trying to get some interest in the 311466 on another thread but this would do instead!
