Recently acquired a Winchester Model 71 in .348 Winchester lever gun and am thinking about shooting cast boolits in it.
Any suggestions as to moulds I should consider?

Just off the top of my head a short list of what's currently available:
LBT has the LCFN (listed as a "Lever Action Bullet" in the catalog) for the .348 offered in weights up to 250 grains. Also their .348 LFN is offered in 200 and 250 grain weights.
Some of the older Lyman designs show up on Ebay from time to time; but you're going to pay a premium for a used mold.
You can also design one yourself at Mountain Molds if your adventurous enough. :)
Hope this helps,

Also , to add to the list :
NEI has four molds that are .348 diameter. NEI #106 , a 225grn gascheck is a fine boolit for the M-71 .

Last Spike: You in the Revelstoke area by any chance? I have a pretty good assortment of 348 bullets. If you send me your address by PM I'll get some to you for testing in your rifle. I currently have 3 moulds for the cartridge but the best hunting bullet I have used is made by Wayne Doudna (Custom Cast Bullets) and weighs 255 grains. His price is reasonable and he is still shipping to Canada. I think 500 bullets cost about 50.00 at his point plus all the extras we get dinged with by Customs, excnage etc. It's been a couple of years since I got them from him.
The RCBS 200 mould is a good one to have for general target use and deer. The heavies are what you want for bigger stuff.

Look for a old Ideal 350457. They made a bunch of them as HPs and the one I have is a dandy in my Browning./beagle

I saw your post mentioning the Lyman 350447 HP mold. I have one of those, and a Win. 71...
I'd appreciate hearing what has worked for you. Alloy selection, powders, etc.
I'd like to get a good load worked up for mine to use on deer and hogs.

................Another member here, Ammohead has a Win M71. Doubt he'll see this too soon as I think he's off zapping varmits with a couple of the other guys. He took a Lee SC mould and had the machinist where he works drill it out with an 11/32 bit, (IIRC) then he paper patches them. Rifle shoots'em really well.
