Out of curiosity has anyone ran 2400 powder in a AR? If so did you get it to cycle, if so at what powder charge?

What other powders seamed to be the best to get it to cycle with out dealing with having the bullet going to fast and start leading?

In an AR with carbine length gas tube 2400 might work with a 55 - 70 gr bullet. I don't know as all my work has been done with "standard" gas tubes on 20" or longer barrels. I also prefer 12 and 14' twist barrels but have had reasonable results with 9 and 10" twists. The faster 7 and 8" twist barrels can be problematic getting reliable functioning with usable accuracy. I've come to use mostly RL 7 and H4895 when I use cast in my ARs (9 and 12" twist currently). However, I've also come to find just buying bulk 55 gr FMJs and loading the 5.56 levels is much easier, especially on the frustration level.

There are numerous threads on the topic of cast in 223/5.56 ARs which a "search" should locate.
