Had a guy at church ask me about the range I shoot at. He recently came into possession on his uncle's smith corona 1903a3 and wanted to shoot it. I had some sperimenting to do, so we went out yesterday. He brought the 03 and also a Harrington & Richardson 65-H Reising .22cal training rifle. He said it was a training rifle for the M1 Garand and the stock certain bore more than a passing resembalance. I also got a chance to fire a couple of rounds of 7tcu ammo into phone books. One bullet was supposed to be Sierra 130gr single shot pistol bullets. These were blems purchased about 10 years ago. No expansion at all. The second was a 15 year old nosler ballistic tip (red) Glad I tested before I hunted with them.

That's a good looking 03-A3!

Mark, I have a 7mmTCU and was wondering what loads you put behind those 130gr. pills and what kind of speeds you are getting?

Are those SS 7mm bullets labeled for silhouette? If so they aren't designed for hunting. Either way remember that phone books don't make the bullet react like flesh and blood.

The load for the 7tcu was near max of AA2230. I would guess the velocity about 1800fps.
