I would like to get some ideas on a really good hunting scope for my Marlin 336 in 35 rem. Most of all my shotw will be 100 yds or less

Thanks

I have a Weaver V3 on mine. 3x magnification seems plenty for this rifle and the price is not bad. At 1x it is a effective both eyes open sight that is very fast on the target even in low light.

Put a straight 2.5 power Leupold on a Marlin .45-70 about 30 years ago. Have since used Leupolds 1.5-5, and 1-4s, but have gone back to the 2.5. It's all the power you will ever need, and you never have to be concerned about where your power stting is. They are also the smallest and lightest you can get, which doesn't take away from the handling of why you got a lever in the first place.

I'm actually going to pull the 1-4X leupold off my 11-87 and mount it on my 336 in .30-30
I would suggest something that has low end Xs is more useful on a lever gun than anything that tops out above 4 or 5X. Whatever you decide it should be trim, IMHO.
FWIW I used a weaver peep on my 336 in .35 rem until I gave it to my brother. I believe he has now mounted a burris 4X on it.

No, I don't have stock in Leupold! If you feel a need for more power go with the
Leupold 1-4x20

Leupold VX-1 1x4 power SHOTGUN scope. It's pretty inexpensive at 199.99 shipping included from most mail order places, has a long eye relief, a fat thick heavy reticle, is light and will take a beating. I have one on my 11-87 for slugs and on a 416 Rigby, it takes a good beating.

What the guys said- 1x, 2x, 2.5x or 3x, no more. a 1-3x or 1-4x would work too. 4x is too much for 25 yard shots on moving game.

My only advice is to buy the best that you can afford. Don't skimp on optics I learned this lesson the hard way.
