turkey in a bucket?

Got to see a a turkey cooking inside a bucket today which was upside down on a bed of hot charcoals, on top of tin foil laying on the ground. Never saw anything like it. Is that a popular way to cook turkey or do I need to get out more?

ain't never heard of anything like that. but an oven and tin foil isn't any different.
