I was wondering if anyone makes any .406 dia jacketed bullets. I know Buffalo arms has some but I was looking for something else maybe... if possible.
Iv'e been doing alot of research and finally bought the Winchester lever legacy book that Iv'e been wanting for years.Great loads in there. He recommends using jacketed bullets, claiming they smooth/clean out a barrel pretty good. Im also cranking up the fps in my cartridges. Trying out new loads.

Contact Rick out at KAL Tool & Die in Winnipeg. He custom swages jacketed bullets for the .40-82 WCF. His 260 grain soft point bullet is designed specifically for the .40-82 WCF cartridge and duplicates the original factory weight of bullet. (The .40-82 WCF was an "express" cartridge and wasn't designed to shoot heavy bullets.)

Send me a PM with your regular email address and I'll send you a scanned copy of Mike Venturino's 2 part article on loading for the .40-82 WCF cartridge. I've used his load data with great success in both an 1886 Winchester and my current 1885 Winchester.
