I have played with 45 acp and 380 acp shot shells, forming them from rifle brass and decided to work up a 9mm load using 223 brass. Its actually better for 380 but does work for 9mm and has a better payload.

The 9mm is .223 cut to 1.100", with 84gn of #12, pushed by 3.5gn of N310.

Well shoot ... now I need to try that. Do you size down the front half or so of the shell for head space? How would you go about doing that?

Yes, I machined an insert for a Lee powder through die to reduce the case for headspace. The same as post #25 in this thread.

I just made the case longer and backed the die out a bit, to properly headspace in the 9x19.

If you can find some 9mm Win Mag brass, that works as well. I had problems with using cut down 223 brass in my 9mm pistols. A lot of FTE's. No issues with the 9mm Win Mag.
