I had a bucket of "lead" given to me. It is scrap and appears to be from glass windows, maybe stained glass. It has an "H" shape if cross sectioned and is very pliable. Anyone have any idea what the material used in this application would be? Pure lead?, Alloy mix? I'll try and post a pic later. Thanks, Dave

Probably "caning" use to join the pieces of glass together. Very pure.

The runs are probably nearly pure lead. The joints might be high in tin content.
For pistol boolits, I would mix it 50-50 with WW.
You could cut out the straight runs for muzzle loader boolits or balls.

Thanks for the input guys. This stuff is very mixed up with nearly all very smal pieces. I am considering mixing the batch up very well and casting ingots with it. then having the NDE guys at work test the composition of it.

If it's just trimmings from caning, it will be pure. If it is salvaged from stained glass, the joints will be soldered, but on the whole I would still treat it as pure. DALE

Back when I was living in an apt occasionally stained glass lamps would wind up in the dumpster. I'd tear them apart and use the caning for muzzleloader balls.
