View Full Version : i have a .577 in my collection

all i can find on this is that it is a re-formed .500 nitro express case down to a .450


can't find it in any of my books....anyone have any info on it?

The .577 Snider rifles are really fun to shoot. You can't go wrong using 75 grains of FFG black powder in the cartridges. Use a round ball or a mini-ball for bullets. You likely don't need much for reloading using round balls. Just something to poke the primers out with and a priming tool of some sort. You can seat round balls using your fingers. You can use 24 gauge over powder wads, etc too. If you can find it the Lyman 585-213 minie ball mold works well for them. But there are other bullet molds out there too. For the conical bullets you would likely have to use a reloading die set though. But if you are careful on inserting the cartridges, maybe not.

They are both fun guns to shoot however, the recoil on 577/450 will rattle you teeth. Steve
