How fast can you shoot pure cast boolits with a gas check without leading?

Best guess with a 22 cal would be 1800 and get fair accuracy for 10 shots. Use heavy duty boolits, the speed will go closer to 2700. Leading is NOT the problem. Accuracy is the problem. ... felix

I was thinking of taking a few pure boolits loaded in my 44mag (Lee 310gr over 15gr 2400 for 1050fps) deer huntin in the AM.

Good morning... Have you not test fired these at paper ?
Here I regularly shoot 40-1 and "Range Lead" in my Colt New Service 44-40 with 9 grains Unique under a 220 Saeco SWC. My boolit is fitted to the cylinders and it is no lead and garenteed expansion at 25 yards (.86 flat disc fired into a beach type sand bank).
I would not hessitate to Smack a deer (or a 100 pound dog) with my boolit out to 50 yards (my personal accuracy limit with this revolver). Your boolit being heavier and probably 100fps faster would easily do the same out to whatever range you can accuratly shoot it. Many old Black Powder rifle cartriges develope this level of power and lots of deer still fall yearly. A 38-55 (300 grain) or a 44-40 (220grain) with Black is going to be moving about this speed.
I hunt the North Fork River area when up there (Danville) ... Next year this time I trust I get to Pistol smack another doe... That will be with a 41 Mag.
