Hackleback

With a heavy heart, I’m letting this old girl go as I haven’t messed with it in close to 10 years.
Up for sale is a 1872 Swedish Rolling block in 12.7x44R (kind of a shortened 50-70). This one has been “sporterized” by trimming the forearm to the barrel band. This old girl still carries the original 36-inch military barrel, complete with bayonet lug and original mil sights. Stock is birch, stamped with rack number and brass disk. Barrel and action are matching and stamped 908
Bore condition: I would call it bright with scattered pitting. No, not perfect but not a sewer pipe either. Lands are fairly sharp and there is shine. I always feel like I’m describing how a wine tastes when I try to describe bore condition. I did shoot this with the below formed brass. I used FF black and some Hornady 50cal Great Plains bullets. It did shoot fine, though I can’t tell you much about accuracy since it was more to see if I could make it go bang.
Brass can be formed from 348 brass, though it sounds like it is easier and better fitting to use 50-70 brass with a slight trim in length.
Included with this rifle are:
22pieces of formed brass from 348
about 40 pieces of new 348 brass
Lyman 50-70 dies
This will ship in an inexpensive hard case inside a box (will likely have to make the box). I will have to take the buttstock off to get it to fit in a gun case, I think this is how it was sent to me as well; I will wrap everything well to prevent damage.
This is an antique, so can ship to your door, I will be using UPS most likely. You must follow all firearms laws, you are responsible to know and follow the local firearms laws where you live.
Since this is a firearms sale, I will be bit more cautious.
I will ask for a copy of a valid ID for this purchase and will only ship to that address. I will provide preference to those members with high post counts or a solid history on this site. I reserve the right to suspend the transaction at any time.
Pictures: PM me an e-mail address or cell # and I will be more than happy to get some to you. Let me know if there is a specific picture you want.
Price: $550 shipped
