Well due to school I haven't been able to spend as much time deer hunting this fall as I would have liked. To top it off, modern gun season in my county ended on Monday so I'm already planning on hitting the woods during muzzleloader season in December.

Anyway I'm looking at buying a new smoke pole but wanted to hear some suggestions on what to look for or what to avoid. I'm not interested in a used model as most of those I have encountered look as though they were rode hard and put away wet.

My only criteria are that it be stainless steel construction with a synthetic stock. I'll probably mount a low power scope on top so fancy sights don't really matter. I would like to keep it fairly inexpensive too, preferably between $200-300. What say the experts??

I have one listed in the classifieds,I can ship it at $225.00,a .50 caliber T/C Renegade...
Of course you can mount a scope on sidehammers, and you can probably find them in your local pawn shops.

I have a .50 cal CVA Optima Pro and it has served me well. I like the break-open design. The one in the link fits your price parameters:

New......I like the T/C Black Diamond. Needs a litle modification to suit my tastes, however. Stainless, Syn stock, 150 gr capacity (I only shoot 100), crazy accurate. Has a hollow syn stock. Light and easy to carry, but put the balance forward. Also, when you rap it on something, the hollow stock is loud. I popped off the butt pad and filled it with acru-glass. Firmed it up, took out any tendencies to make noise, and shifted the balance back to a more comfortable off hand shooting hold. It's a hoot to boot.
