I have an Argentine 1911 Colt. I have never put anything but 230gr fmj ball through it. Any Lee mold recommendations, as I seem to be able to cast better with them. I heard they are picky about feeding anything but mill style rounds..

My 1911s love the Lee 200gn flat nose! Cycle well, cast well, size well.
10gns of Blue Dot and off to the races.
I size to .452. No leading. My Combat Commander is 2" to left though with that load.
No crimp.

Mine does well with the Lee TL452-230-TC.

452-228-1R is close to the Mil ball. I used the Lyman 453374 230gr with 7gr unique and never had a failure.

My Springfield WWII milspec feeds a Lee TL 230rn just fine. I'm waiting for the H&G 68 clone group buy to come in. Hoping it feeds well, if not I'll have to find a gun to fit the mold [smilie=1:

If you are just starting to handload with cast, it may be best to start with the Lyman 452374 as it is the "twin" to the ball you have been using. The other mould #`s suggested will all work in your Argentine when their OAL is adjusted to your particular pistol. Mostly, it due to the somewhat different feed ramp angles from one pistol to another. Magazine follower types and feed lip conditions will also come into play. Finding out what works and what doesn`t is half the fun with cast.

I have a Llama and it didn't like the lee SWC 45's but I have no trouble at all with the Lee round nose.

Lee 200 gr TLSWC works very well from my 1911. These are target loads at 3.8-3.9 grains of Bullseye and around 750 fps. They cycle and shoot the center out of a 50' NRA slowfire
target. with a two hand hold.

The advantage of the LEE TL six banger mold is the sheer volume of boolits that can be cast, lubed, loaded, and shot in a short period of time.

The Lee 452-228-1R is a really good boolit. I have found it to feed really well in in a variety of bone stock 1911's. I would really like a H&G 230 multi cavity, but never could swing the dough.

I cast 230gr tl 2R and 200gr tl swc good results with both, shot out of a couple stock 1911A1's.

Mine does well with the Lee TL452-230-TC.

Same bullet used here and great accuracy once I found the sweet spot with the powder.

I had terrible accuracy with the Lee 195 and 200 grain bullets. A friend gave me some to play with and a 165 grain bullet is ALMOST as good as the H&G 68.

If you feel you must use the Lee, that's up to you.

Personally, I really like the 200 grain H&G 68, PB not BB, and the Lyman 452460.

My USAMU .45 really likes the H&G or SAECO 130 in 185 grains, but that's with a "softball" load and reduced power recoil spring. It likes it so well, it puts them all in the same place at 25 yards. Even at 50 they're still real friendly.:coffee:

I'll give a vote to the RCBS 45-201-SWC.

I"m with Ricochet. I did however have feeding problems with this boolit sized at .454. When I sized them at.452 the feed problems went away and they go thru my XD45 and GoldCup very well.

Run the finished rounds through a Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die and the feeding problems go away. With the tumble lubed boolits, I don't stop to size them.
