I have a casting thermometer and was wondering at what temperature I need to get the zinc ww's skimmed out?

I always hand sort my wheel weights. I know its a pain but it helps cut down on the worry.
I also keep my melt for smelting at 700 degrees. This practice has helped me keep the zinc out of my ingots.

It's something liek 750*.

I've never had a problem as long as I stay whith the work. when I see one floating I'll push it down into the lead melt. sometimes it melt but if it doesn't then it's zink. Try not to pile to many in at one time. I use a shovel and stand way back when adding WW to the melt.

Zinc melts at 787 degrees, set your melt temperature accordingly.

I have no problems with zinc weights and I am getting more and more of them with each bucket of lead ww's I get. I pick out the tape weights and any other trash I see then shovel them into the pot carefully. I know where to set the gas valve so that the pot temp does not exceed the zinc melting temperture, the zinc weights get skimmed off with the clips.
