I got a good deal on a used husqvarna in 270, does anyone have a good load/boolit preferance for one? also looking for a fiber stock and can't seem to find one. Was the husqy made by someone and sold under the husq name ?

I believe, at least it used to be so, Husquavarna was originally made by Carl Gustav.
If that is the case, it would be a small ring Swedish Mauser.
I am not dead sure, you might try measuring the front reciever ring. Midway has a chart on the measurements for barrel threads for Mausers.
If that is the case, I am sure some parts are interchangeable.

Husqy uses a mauser style action on all the ones I have seen. Large or small ring depends on the caliber, I believe.

Does the action look like a Mod 98 Mauser?

Yup, it looks like a mauser action. I was looking for a fiber/wood stock.

Early post-WWII Husq.were made using FN Mauser actions ,but I don't have a date for the change to their own swedish made, but some sources indicate as early as 1954.. fwiw, Onceabull

Measure the front ring, and the length of the action.
Most custom stock makers can make it. Richards Microfit is an example.

Front ring measures 1.3" and screw to screw measures 7 7/8" bore is shiny 4 lands .270/.277 has some blueing wear. looks like original stock black tip piece white spacer, monte carlo cheek piece, cracked through at pistol grip (previously repaired with a steel rod and putty) front ring has Husqy crest with SWEDEN under it and Nitro proof on barrel. Looks to be a cast shooter.:castmine:
6 digit SN. $150.

I have a Lyman #280468 122gr loverin and RCBS 150gr for the 270. Plus a Lyman 7mm #287405 Loverin 150gr than can be sized down to .278 or .280.

If you've a on spec bore diameter the RCBS 150 at 2000 fps will deliver the best balistics. Since it has a very high B.C. From your numbers above I'd say it should shoot.

I like the 122gr loverine over 15 1/2 gr of Unique. for 2000 fps. IMR 3031 would probably deliver higher performance but uses twice the powder charge.

The Loverin are out of production but Lyman has a newer bullet with lube groves in the nose. Have'nt seen it in a catalog but Lyman sells it direct from their web site. RCBS has shifted their mold production to India and they are 60% or more junk now. ( drum beater)

Gas checks are out of production at Hornady. I've managed to pick up old stock on ebay and I think Gator may make them.
