I took aday today to shoot in a m1 Garand match. I was my second match and the fourth time I shot my new toy a Springfield 1944 Garand. This match was shot at 200yds, 20 slow fire p, 10 rapid p, 10 rapid sitting, and 10 slow standing. I am not sure of the over all results but I would like to pass on my score. I am pleased with shooting today I got 431 with 7 X's. Imissed out on bronze my one point and would you beleive that I had a malfuntion on the rapid fire and didn't get my last round off [smilie=b:. But that's the way it goes.

Good Shooting. Try lead bullets, 311284 and 40 grs. 4064, good 200 yd. load. Single shot loading. Good for cast bullet bench shooting. Joe

Tcrocker,

Good shooting... The Garand is a lot of fun to shoot.

You shot the "National Match Course" and is what is normally fired in Service Rifle matches.

A 200 yd match is considered a "reduced course" match as the distances are normally:
200 yds - Offhand
200 yds - Rapid Sitting
300 yds - Rapid Prone
600 yds - Slow Prone

In non-Garand reduced course matches, the target scoring rings get smaller to simulate the longer distances. On the slow prone target, the 10 ring is only about 4" in diameter.
