Hi all, I've been away from the board for awhile. I'm just now checking my PMs.
Awhile back I mentioned something about maybe getting some inexpensive digital scales, but life got busy...
Anyway I bought a few that measure in grains if anyone is interested. The leftovers, I'll put up on ebay later.
http://www.digiweighusa.com/uploadfiles/DW-250BZ.jpg
This is about 4" square and the display pops out on the right side. The clear cover can be used as a tray with the tare button. It weighs in grams, ounces, grains, troy ounce and carat. It has a back lit display and comes with batteries. I took one out of the box and put my RCBS 250gn weight on it. It came out at 250.0 on the small one and 250 on the larger one.
I got 2 different capacities.

There is a 250 gram or 3875 grain that reads to .1 for $14. I got 30 of these and
a 500 gram or 7715 grain that only reads to 1 grain for $18. I got 20 of these. I thought this one would be .1 also, but it wasn't.

Shipping will be $3.85 in a USPS flat rate envelope.
If anyone is interested let me know. I can do paypal at idahobronco@aol.com or check and money order to:

Either one is fine with me. I've never had a money problem with a cast boolit shooter.

This little bit of snow is just a teaser. The wife wants a whole pile to build a snow fort in the front yard. It usually ends up looking like a pyramid.

My life has been soo crazy the past month or so, I don't know if I'd belive it if you told me about it.

I'm glad things are slowing down though.

I did start on an 8mm project that should be interesting when it's done.

I received mine sometime shortly after Christmas. I am very happy with it. Thanks Glen.

The only communication I received before the package showed up was a blank reply to the paypal email that was sent to him. I figured that was just to let me know he had received payment.

I am guessing that a little patience will go a long way in this case. It looks like he had to resupply himself in order to get everyone a scale.

Hi everybody, the new shipment of scales is going out. I should have the rest of them sent by tomorrow. The mail is slow comeing this way also. One envelope postmarked Dec 19th just showed up. I only sent a couple out in the flat rate envelopes. I got to thinking that they wouldn't be very protected that way, so I've been cutting boxes down to send them in so they get there in one piece.
I don't check my email everyday sorry. I wish I had time to check the board here everyday also.
I understand people getting nervious especially if they don't get any kind of reply. sorry, my bad on that.

I sent a reply to all paypal payments. I don't know why the one was blank??

If there are any problems with the scales let me know. I'll see about sending them back on warrenty. Somebody emailed me about that, don't remember who, but I haven't gotten anything back yet.

The best way to get ahold of me is at idahobronco@aol.com

Thanks for your patience

I asked around real early on, before I placed my order. All the feedback that I got from this forum indicated that lar45 was a righteous guy. Scared?? No. Concerned?? Yes, but only on my end, as we have had some snail-mail breakins this Yule season. So I emailed lar45 to request a notify when he shipped, stating the reason for my concern. I DID get a reply from him, stating that he would do so, and that the order was coming in soon.

So, never having met the guy, going only on reputation on what I have heard from this forum, I have the complete confidence that he will deliver.
Nuff said.............................................. Lee ;-)

Hi all, all the scales are in the mail. On the second order, I ordered extra of the 250 gram scales.
I now have 27 of the 250's and 2 of the 500's if anybody wants any of them. The best way to get ahold of me is with email idahobronco@aol.com
The post office had a recent rate increase so the Flat Rate envelopes are $4.05 and the Flat Rate boxes are $8.10 now. FWIW.
I sent most of them out in cut down boxes to help protect them. I got to looking at them in the envelopes and thought they might not survive. Those of you who got theirs in the envelopes, how did they fair? If their broke, send them back and I'll replace them. That goes for everybody else also, if you have any problems with them, send them back and I'll make it right.

After things calm down here, I'll be putting them up on my website and on ebay. A local store is selling a small digital scale without the pop out display for $45 so I think I should be able to move them out fairly easily.
I didn't keep one for myself out of the first batch, so I'll have to sit down and start playing myself. I think one of my firt projects will be to weigh some LC match 06 brass and weigh abunch of Fat 30's to see if it improves accuracy. I thought about it before, but wasn't motivated enough to do it with a regular balance.

http://www.digiweighusa.com/uploadfiles/DW-250BZ.jpg Does not come with the calibration weight in the picture.

Glad to hear the envelope got there okay. I was kind of worried about those.
I have 1 of the 500's left.
We did have a scale get dropped on the kitchen floor and the silver weighing platform poped off. It looks like it was held on with double sided tape. We pressed it back on and tried it and it seems to work fine. It weighed the same as another one. It has a small crack in the clear lid and is a 500 gram one. I didn't send it out. It's still sitting here waiting for me to decide what to do with it.

It's time to build some guns and go to the range.

Hi all, thanks for your patience as I get these out in the mail.
I'm down to 4 of the 250gm scales
I have 2 of the 500gm scales left that are discounted.
one of them, I loaned to my buddy at the gunshop for a couple of weeks, but otherwise is new. The box is kind of dogeared. I'll let it go for $10 if anyone wants it.
The other one got dropped and has a small crack on the corner of the clear plastic lid. It's not really noticable. Everything works and it weighs the same as the other one. I'll let it go for $8 if anyone wants it. I'll still warrenty it if it dies.

It looks like things are slowing down here on orders. I'll probably send in another order next week for my stock and start putting them up on my website and ebay. Retail on these is $35 and $58 so I think I'll probably go $20 and $25 on my site. www.lsstuff.com/lube

Thanks

It looks like things are slowing down here on orders. I'll probably send in another order next week for my stock and start putting them up on my website and ebay. Retail on these is $35 and $58 so I think I'll probably go $20 and $25 on my site. www.lsstuff.com/lube

Thanks
Glenn.

Still a great price. Thanks for the deal.

Hi, looks like I didn't read all the fine print on the scales. On the back of the package it says Capacity/Readability: 250g/0.1g for grams. The 250 does display to 0.1 in grains, the 500 only goes to 0. The specifications on the sheet in the box shows for everything but grains. So I don't know what it's supposed to be doing here.

When I got them in, I opened one of each, the 250 and 500, and put my 250grain RCBS weight on them, they read out 250.0 and 250 . I sent all the scales out and didn't keep one back for myself to play with, but it looks like they are not displaying in smooth increments or something.

I'll call the importer guy and see if I can get some more info on them. with the last order, I got one of each thing they had that weighed in grains to look at except the $400 lab scale. The ones that were cheaper than these only went to 0. and did not display any decimal points. There were 2 that were twice as much, but I don't know if they looked twice as good. They both displayed to 0.1 in grains also.

IF you look on the back of the box, it has 2 scales listed, a 100 and 50 gram, that look like they go to 2 decimal places, but they don't carry those.

Thoughts?

1. Let 'em warm up for a little while, keep adding or subtracting weight so they don't automatically turn off. It seems they read better after 30 seconds or so.

2. Don't get into heavy breathing on them, it upsets the reading.

3. The 250 scale reads to .1 grain and appears to do so accurately and repeatedly.

4. The 500 scale reads to .1 gram and appears to do so accurately and repeatedly.

5. IMHO, I think the printed literature is a little confusing, they seem to refer to grains and grams both as "g". On the scale, it lights up as "gr" or "g".
And if you take a 15.4 grain weight (which is about 1.0 gram) it weighs as 15.4gr or 1.0 g on the 250 scale, and as 15.0gr or 1.0g on the 500 scale.

6. Complaining??? Nope, not at all. I hope this helps to clear up any confusion. (These comments apply to the scales I have received. I am pleased with my purchase.......................................... .Lee)

(This is pretty much how the scales are described in the original post, so I'm not sure there is any problem here.)

Thanks Lars.
Good post Lee.

the batteries were dead on mine, but they usually are on "batteries included" stuff.no big deal,i expected it..after i read the post about 250 gr capacity i weighed 3 ,.312 100 gr speer bullets at the same time.i got 299.4 w/the digital and 300.6 w/rcbs beam. i weighed several other things and they all came pretty close.i m not gonna use it for powder charges, just to seperate my cast bullets.this scale is plenty good for what i plan to do. if you interested you can see how big a blowhard you are by blowing on the tray.more sensitive than i thought.thanks again, glenn

Ya it is kind of crazy to see it jump all over the place just by blowing on it.
Next Postal Match, the Digi Scale Blow Off. LOL, should we take bets on who the biggest blow hard is around here?

My 250-gram'er came in today in good shape. Nice, neat little unit. I checked it out against some old Pacific weights KCSO gifted me, and with my fairly new RCBS "deluxe" check weight set. It didn't really like anything under ten grains - the five and six grain weights read zero - but was spot-on at 500 grs and within a few tenths down to 20 grs. Nothing I'd want to weigh Bullseye charges on, but fine for screening .45-70 boolits, etc. And I do have a lot of use for it weighing other stuff that is not real critical, and it will live handily in my center desk drawer along with the dial calipers, etc. DEFINITELY worth the price; thank you for digging these out and spreading them around.

A second unit I ordered for a friend came in day before yesterday. Since he lives 2hr away, I opened up and checked the scale for him. And made some direct comparisons with my scale.

1. Both scales read the same, repeated weighings with different weights. Without confusing accuracy and precision, I will say that they are "repeatable".

2. Always place the object you are weighing in the center of the scale. Placed on a corner, the reading may change. (In my case up to 1/2 grain. Now the good part: both scales showed the same change related to positioning. To me at least, it says the scales are manufactured with some degree of consistency.)

3. Especially when weighing powder, a couple check weights in the range you are weighing would never be a bad idea. An occasional check with the 'ole beam balance couldn't hurt either.

Complaining???......absolutely not. Just a couple of further observations.

Thanks again to lars45 for an excellent group buy.................................Lee ;-)

Received my 250 gram (little one) scale today. Man, how cute can it be?!!

I'll get a chance to use it tomorrow. Sure looks good. It'll be just the thing to take to the matches to check my powder measure.

Thanks, Lars45, for your efforts on our behalf.
