What would be a good item to use to slug the barrel of my 22 Hornet? The fishing weights I have found don't seem to be soft enough.
Thanks

I might consider taking a .22lr cartridge and pulling the bullet.
It should slug easily.

If you can come up with a piece of lead shotgun shot just a tad bigger than 22 would work great!

I used cerrosafe, just last sunday, to slug the barrels and cylinders of a pair of pistols. It worked well.

Try taking the 22 cal bullet and put it in a vise and squeeze it down just a tat to make the diameter a bit bigger..You then have a slug which will or should give a more accurate measurement.......

Thanks for the input. I had figured the 22LR bullet would be too small. I'll have to pull and mike one to see.

If you have some pure lead I would drill a hole in a scrap piece of hard wood and pour some lead in it . A 15/64 drill should be about right , if its on the large side you could roll it between a couple steel plates to size it down a little or file it a bit to get it started .

You could try firing a powder puff load with a 22lr bullet. A grain of Bullseye type powder may do it. I use a box full of card board and old cushions stood on the earthy outdoors!
Ideally get the bullet stuck in the barrel then tap it out.Ive done my underlevers this way without drama.
