This was probably a walmart slug not a cast boolit but it sure deserves to be shared. A friend's granddaughter in Indiana, 10yrs old, uncle gave her the shotgun for Christmas 2-3 years ago and she harvested her first buck with it early this morning.. One shot, right through the heart!

The scope dinged her in her cheek, so she is likely to be proudly sporting a shiner this week at school!!

Her Uncle was so proud of her he looked like he was chopping onions!! I would be too!

Unfortunately school is one place she defiantly should NOT brag about her deer let alone take a pic in!

Nice to see another young lady that has a interest in hunting. She looks as though she enjoyed shooting a deer and is not afraid of showing her accomplishment.
I would be very proud also. Very Cool !

Excellent start for the young lady. She is young enough that she can start learning more about hunting, then reloading, then casting. I expect the similar minded young men will be fighting to get her attention. If she marries a hunter he will have to be careful when he asks what she wants for her birthday and Christmas presents, could get expensive.

Otoh, none of the boys at school are gonna give her any LIP! Would you mess with a girl that shoots a 12ga as well as a full grown man? I didn't think so! :bigsmyl2:

Great story, nice deer. I'm impressed with her shooting and with the processing of the deer.

Have a blessed day,

Glad for her and hope she keeps it up to get more for the years to follow her. Like was stated to not talk about it in school for how it is getting to be for how schools are.Sad for how it is now.

Bull. She lives in Indiana. Brag it up, little girl! I can see reluctance in other areas but not flyover farm country. It'll be fine.

Brad away at school and to anyone who will listen. Taking a buck is nothing to be ashamed of !It need not be hidden it is legal after all.I believe hiding our hunting heritage will be our downfall as sportsman and women . Great job young lady congratulations!!!

Congrats young lady!! I helped my niece take her first deer ( a doe) when she was ten. That was two years ago she keeps saying she wants to try for a buck but sadly she hasn't been hunting since. Great memories for the both of you.

I would have given her a 20 Ga...A twelve is a lot of gun for that sized kid. (Evidenced by the bruise on the cheek).
I shot a 12 at that age but it is a lot to handle. It is exactly why God made 20's.

Well done!!

That's one proud, happy young lady that will be telling that story for many years. When everyone sits down for a venison dinner she'll have a good feeling for furnishing it and a great story while eating it.

Knowing her uncle, he already tried her on a 20 and decided on a 12..

helping with the processing is VERY impressive. Many will shoot, not many will clean. Did it right!
