I have 60 rounds of Kynoch
Ross 280 ammo, i do not know how old it is and don't know when it will be shot. Should I tear it down, anneal the brass and save the powder or use new powder when I get dies to reassemble

OP states "Kynoch" so the headstamp would be Kynoch.

The head reads KYNOCH on top and .280 on the bottom

Safest way would be to tear it down. The reason I asked for the headstamp is for evidence of reloading. You're out a few bucks to tear it down - no telling the cost if it's an unknown.

Might be berdan primed and corrosive primer. Sacrifice one to find out before going any further. Since you don't have the original boxes or lot numbers might be the prudent thing to do. Frank

Pull one down and see what weight the boolit is.
The first loading was 140gr iirc and then they went to a 160gr projectile.
Your boolits look like they could be 140s with the blunt semi hollowpoint nose. Those are the boolits that performed so poorly and got a few sportsmen et when they took their 280s out after lion and such.
I have an Oberndorf Mauser that will only hold the 140gr factory cartridges but not the 160s.
Also, I have had weird results with the three 280 Mausers I have had.
One Lancaster shot the Ross Seyfreid loads perfectly but a Gibbs showed WAY over pressure and the other one I mentioned above shows over pressure but not as bad as the Gibbs did. I'm beginning to work up new loads for that rifle but its back burnered for now.

All Kynoch headstamp 280 Ross Rimless were made with 140 Gn bullet

Measure the primers ,if .250 its berdan,but if normal .210,then thats valuable cases,and worth looking after.
