I have seen three of these stocks.

The first one I had I bedded the stock and broke it trying to get the barrel back out of the stock. This was it with my Cabelas Hawken furniture.

After that one broke I decided to get another one and actually got two more. I got them for a steal, probably because they break. :bigsmyl2:
I fell off a ladder last January and I have had some time off. So I decided to fill the buttstock with a two part epoxy that is used to glue quarter panels on cars at auto body shops.

I left a couple inches so I could install a block of wood to screw the buttplate to .

So I mixed up some Devcon and poured it in. Then added the wood block and topped it off with more devcon.

I re drilled the pad to match my wood block and then I drilled the wood block. Then I wrapped the stock with masking tape to protect the stock.

I think I will probably paint the stock with something that will make it look like the tan with webbing like the Bell and Carlson stocks. But this is it for now. I plan to leave my Hawken with the wood stock but if it breaks I want to have a couple of options.

Its not so much as a repair. It is more like preventative maintenance.

.

Could you please explain why you changed the stock bottom line at the toe ? . :)

Was the recoil pad too short to continue the line through the pad ?

I agree 100%. This was just a back up stock in case I get a broken stock. We all know how the stocks break with the TC guns.

That was purely a oops with the grinder.

You are correct about the TC stocks having a habit of breaking.
I made up a Clamping Jig to repair the stocks, and after Gluing them back together, I insert a sleeve around the lock mounting screw bedded into the wood and a couple of thru dowels from top to bottom to secure the top and bottom half of the stocks together.
So far they have worked out fine, even on a stock that I bought that was in Two pieces.
But your Composite Back Up stock , is a very good Idea.

Having a back up sock is a bad thing?

I was thinking that you were leaning towards an "All Weather Stock"
Which is a Very good idea knowing what the weather is like during most Big Game Hunts.

That would be an option too. TC stocks are so hard to get now that I am not passing up on any that I can get my hands on.

You are correct on the availability of TC stocks in good condition.
That is why I started repairing a lot of them that were cracked.
But I have had to make a couple from a blank.
I may end up picking up one of those Plastic stocks too, for a Back Up, or to use the rifle while I Make, Modify or Build a new stock for it.
