I am frustrated in my effort to find a 454424 4 cavity, I can't even locate a 2 cavity. I think the saeco #452 will work, according to what I can find this casts 455 and is much in design like the 454424. Midway has these listed for 132 bucks which is steep, but I'm willing to pay for it, but they claim it will take 90 days. Does anyone have a source that stocks saeco, I've googled it to death and been on about 50 websites and can't find this boolit mould.
thanks in advance

I believe that Saeco makes all their 4 cavities on special order. No one has them in stock unless it is a return. They make 2 cavities and ship to stores but all 4 cavities are only by special order.

Heavy lead,

Midway says 90 days as a cya. It is more like 30 days, I have ordered several SAECO 4 cavity moulds from them. They are the only ones I know that stock Saeco 4 cavity, and usually you will see it, my guess is when they special order they may get more than 1, and put the overage on the shelf.

If I were to special order a Saeco mould, it would be from Midway, or direct from Redding/Saeco. I did a special order from another dealer, who got the wrong mould first, I sent it back(my expense) and he said he would order, and after lots of unanswered e-mails and over 6 months I got my mould. I will never again buy from that dealer..........

I've backordered Saeco molds from Midway many times and the usual delivery time is 30 days or so.

The RCBS 45-255-SWC bullet is a better version of the Keith bullet and spec-ed for 0.454" so it should drop at 0.455" but they don't make 4 cavity molds.

If you need 0.455" bullets consider the Lyman 454190 mold as well... the original 45 Colt bullet.

Midsouth has the Lyman 452424's in stock for $46.55.

Lyman replaced the 454424 with the 452424 mold.

I have all of these molds and the RCBS mold is the best one; the Lyman molds are good too but tend to overheat as the mold blocks are smaller.

This article written by Glen Fryxell contains the 454424 bullet story. We're lucky to have him as a regular here at Cast Boolits:

Thanks Guys,
BTW two great articles Boomer Mikey. I actually got a 452424 recently, flawed severely, pins were off centre so bad it cast an oval boolit measuring 457 to 445, yes 445, I'm gun shy to buy another, but maybe I sould for 47 bucks what the heck. I really would like a 4 cavity, I have two I bought from Midsouth at 66 bucks and some change in 429421 and 358429. These have squared grease grooves and cast a nice fat boolit and fast, especially the 358, they are both keepers. Also I have a 452460 I bought that is sweet as apple pie too. All these are new. I just can't fathom Lyman wouldn't offer the 452424 or better IMO 454424. I'll think on it, I may just buy the RCBS, I've had good luck with their moulds, or I may just spend the bread and order one from Midway, I have had good luck with them.
