Unless I'm misinformed, all T/C Hawken bbl. .54cal. & larger were 1" across the flats. I believe all T/C Renegade bbls. were 1".

That's what I have found also all Renegade Barrels where 1 inch. The Hawken's 45 and 50 were 15/16 and the 54 was 1 inch. T/C also made a what they called a Big Bore for a while in the 1980s it was a 58cal. 1inch Barrel. original T/C Barrels

I have an older Dixie gun works catalog that lists 54 cal. drop in Barrels for the Hawken from Green Mountain that were 15/16. 1-70 twist

Green mountain make a drop in 15/16 .54 cal but only in 1 in 60 and 1 in 20...no 1 in 48

Try contacting The Log Cabin: Lodi Ohio. They have a bunch of barrels that were never used.

Find a 15/16 TC Hawken barrel in 50 Caliber , and send it to Bob Hoyt to be re bored and rifled the way you want the twist.
You can find a barrel with a bad bore, and it will be like new on the inside when he is done.

do you have any idea what he charges?

I believe that I just paid like $125.00 plus shipping to have my .56 Smooth Bore TC taken out to .600 rifled for Round Ball.
That is a good deal, especially if you can pick up a barrel in poor condition for next to nothing.
Talk to Mr. Hoyt and explain what Boolit you are going to shoot and at what distance.
He can Recommend a Twist that will suite your needs better than the standard 1/48 rifling

1 in 48 twist...54 cal...15/16...T/C Hawken....Does this barrel exist??

I am curious why you would want a 54 in 48twist?
If you gonna hunt with round ball a slower twist will do better
If Slugs then why a 54 ?
just curious is all..............

My shoulder hurts when I stoke my 54 ball gun to the max but it will flatten anything I hit with it to a hundred yards (120 grains of FFg powder under that ball)

I agree with Indian Joe.
Why such a Fast Twist on such a Big Bore.
That is why I opted for a 1/60 twist for RB in a .600 Caliber.
I just don't see that a Slug will give you any real advantage.
But it is your rifle, and your Shoulder.
And 1/48 (IMO )is kind of a compromise, and will not shoot either a RB or Slug with proficient Accuracy on both.

What you say is true and I shall do this....I was trying to match up the other 2 barrels in the set I am putting together

I am putting together a 3 barrel set with one stock and was looking for uniformity more than accuracy but having a barrel bored out is I think a much better way to go..Thanks ..this never crossed my mind before

In your lookin around, maybe you can find a .32 or .36 barrel for your set.
If you can not find one, one could be made , or another barrel sleeved to the smaller caliber you want.
I have built Multi Caliber / Barrel Shotguns and Handguns on Government model frames.
It was a costly project, and I mostly just ended up shooting them with One Barrel or Caliber.
But it is a great Idea for your ML project.

48" is a great twist for .54 bore rifling.
It's the rifling geometry that desires attending.
