Do Berdan primers need a deeper hit than Boxer primers?????
I'm asking because I've gone through at least 200 8mm Lebel MG ammo, and have not mad one primer go off.
Rounds had the heads and powder removed.
Tried to fire the primers in my 1886 Lebel rifle.
Rifle fires fine with my reloaded Boxer rounds.

Probably just old primers. I have a bit of old Lebel ammo and it is anything but reliable. Sometimes you pull the trigger and get BANG, the next time may be click----BANG or just click and no Bang.

THat old Lebel stuff in the strips is all pretty much dead. I had the same luch with it and just ended up using it for decoration.

Not necessarily so.....the Lebel MG ammo is double skin primed ,virtually one primer cup inside another.....the purpose,Im told ,is to stop the primers being blown from the case and jamming the action of the portative model of 1909..........I might add,the ammo is very powerful ,more so than rifle ammo, and is likely marginal in a Berthier.
