Hey Kathie, got the lead. Boxing was great. BHN checked 12 on this batch. Don't get no better. I have to tell you a short story. The postmaster at my post office is tiny but very tough. She carried and delivered twin boys about two years ago. She calls me when the box shows up and I go pick it up. Never told her what was in them. When this last one came in she called and when I went in the back to get the box she said,You would think that is a box of lead!. My reply,that is exactly what it is. I wish you could have seen the look on her face. She broke out laughing and took it all in stride. Thanks again!

Hi to all....

Things here in my community (Stratford, CT, a hot spot for COVID-19) are not good. Not good for my state. All municipal offices closed, shopping malls closed, churches, bowling alleys, bars and restaurants take out only or delivery - need to close at 8, many non essential businesses are closed. My state, NY and NJ have formed a regional alliance - so what happens in NY and NJ will probably soon happen here. In NY and NJ: Governors have said all but essential workers are to stay home. They want people to stay indoors. NY announced that they are the epi-center of this crisis. Other states are following suit. Hording abounds and it is so sad that you can't go to the store and buy what you need like in pre Covid-19. This is like a mad dream.

Due to the above and some other issues, I am temporarily suspending sales of lead, except for those who have contacted me previously with PM's which I have responded to. My supply is near the end (and I had been for the past 2 previous weeks, shipping 1 to 4 50LB packages of lead daily). In normal times, my supply would have lasted for about 3 months. I picked up lead Feb 1st, and next pick up would have been after May 1st. Not sure when or if we will be able to do a cleanup because of rules of how many people can gather.

A church that I am webmaster for their website requires my attention in regard to publishing recorded services from this point forward (and probably at least through May per Diocese). I have been working very closely with the priest these past few days, taking away my attention to packing up what remaining lead that I have into SMALL FLAT RATE BOXES.

** FOR THOSE WHO ARE FOLLOWING UP WITH ME on pending sales, I will send short reply to you to read this post. I hope I can resume my packing task next week. I am not sure what the directive will be for next week, but all is not looking good. **

Edited on 3/23: State of CT on a lock down (as well as NY and NJ) and residents strongly advised to stay home unless for essential travel (to work, doctors, grocery store, etc). Many "non-essential" businesses are closed. This lock down was effective as of tonight, Monday, at 8 pm. So at this time, it is a shelter-in-place, and I will now suspend all sales until further notice. End of edit.

Edited 4/27: All sales are still suspended until further notice. At this time, my state will be locked until until at least mid-May - without any expectation that non-essential businesses will be opened any time too soon. I am very low with my supply, and when I do resume sales, it will be be quantities of around 22 pounds to fit safely in a small flat rate box. If you can find lead ingots elsewhere, please do so! My daughter, who lives in Coventry, CT, just sent me a text message. The Governor from FL (where I am) just proclaimed that anyone coming from CT, NY, and NJ have to quarantine, upon arrival, for two weeks. So, she cannot come to visit. Worried about what would happen (I'm 68 and counting) if I got the virus. Both of my children are in New England.

When you do get back up and running, can you spray down all ingots of lead (getting back on subject) so that we can feel safe handling them?

It's a detail that few are thinking about as we ship stuff from state to state. Would hate to be a mail person right now.....

Maybe you better consider the mail that you receive everyday, and put that into a quarantine for a few days (a friend of mine does this). How do you know if any piece of mail that you receive has been or has not been handled by someone who has COVID-19 along the journey to you??? I have done my research by reading information from trusted sites, notably the CDC. BECAUSE I CAN NOT GUARANTEE A GERM-FREE PACKAGE ARRIVING TO YOUR HAND, I will solve the concern that you have. Buy elsewhere... but please note, from whomever you buy lead from, they too can not make a guarantee as to who handles the package.

Oh how I wish I had some lead to smelt !!!!! My club's range cleanout had been planned for May, but leagues/activities have been temporarily suspended due to governmental order of not having social activities of more than 5 people. Unfortunately, no lead here to smelt! My club has suspended all activities and leagues due to not being able to have groups greater than 5 people. So I suspect the previously scheduled pickup for May will not happen. I suspect my state (CT) will still be in lock-down until end of April...It's anyone's guess as to when some of the restrictions will be lifted. Right now, social distancing (6 feet apart), appears to be slowing the spread - and main thing is staying safe! But when we do a clean out, I will welcome getting back to some sense of normalcy. Kudos on helping with the video messages. People need to feel connected to the body in difficult times.

We were a little slow on setting up streaming and went without message or fellowship for three weeks.

We finally got Facebook Live working well for us to live stream the message on Sunday. It certainly is not the same as in person but it helps us stay connected.

Great news is that we are in one of five counties moving into phase 2 of the startup. We hope to have in person worship by the first of June.

Shooting activities have recently resumed at my club. Normally, I would have fetched more lead in May, but the COVID-19 health crisis put a crimp on this. Am waiting to hear from our House and Grounds chairman in regard as to when our club will be cleaning out the traps. At this time, I am very low on my supply of ingots (less than 200lbs). At this time, I am limiting sales to what I can fit into a small flat rate box. Once I fetch more lead, I then can resume to selling 50+lb of lead ingots.

What is the hardness of the range lead when compared to wheel weight lead? I load for rifle and pistol with cast rounds. If range lead is softer I guess I would just use it in pistols instead.

I am almost out of lead ingots, and have been selling 24+ lbs to make the supply last longer to give more people opportunity to buy. I have most of it promised and I have suspended temporarily sales because one of my 5 terabyte harddrives suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure on Mon (8/10). My tech has the computer so I can't do my invoicing and labeling until I get it back. Price when I do resume is $1.05 a pound and $8.30 postage. Am using cellphone to monitor messages and responding to same.

Due to Covid, the scheduled May cleanout at my club never happened. Lately the club has experienced flooding inside, ventilation problems, and other disasters so I dare not ask the chairman of Buildings and Grounds about a clean out. With Covid, all leagues and other activities were suspended. So I suspect the traps don't yet need cleaning.

I don't know when we will do a cleanout.

If I had the lead, I would gladly sell some to you.

I wish I had an infinite amount of lead!

Hello friends,

I hope everyone is doing OK during these trying times.

Due to Covid-19, my club did not have the usual cleanout that would have taken place in May. However, last week, a work party was scheduled and lead was fetched on Saturday, Dec. 5th.

Talk about getting the lead out: 2755 pounds! 40 trays! Of course, the yield in ingots will not be pound for pound - more like 60-65% based on past cleanouts.

I am now in the smelting phase. I will *NOT* be doing any shipping this month due to many reasons. For social distancing, the line goes outside of the post office. And no, I do not leave 24+ and 50+ pounds packages for my carrier to pick up at my house. The wait time in line can be up to around 25 minutes per past experience (both Covid and Pre-Covid).

I am not keeping any waiting lists - just giving everyone a heads up that ingots are being poured! Right now, limit will be 50lbs per person due to the many PM's I receive inquiring about lead. However, after inquiries die down, of course I will sell another 50 pounds (if not more) - I just like to give everyone a chance to purchase my ingots. And due to plexiglass partitions, handling 50 pound MFRB's is more challenging than before! I will not be keeping track of any posts here asking for lead. As before, I have conducted business via PM's. When I am ready to sell, I will post to this thread.

At this time, I do not know if postage will increase for Flat Rate Shipping. It still has to be determined (and new rates will be effective Jan. 24, 2021). I believe I can still hold to my $1.05 a pound for lead and postage is extra. Right now, SFRB is $8.30 and MFRB is $15.05.
