hi . those of you who have the custom lee 357 180 gas check bullet ? try shooting them without the gas check ! i previously worked up several loads useing gas checks from 1027 to 1708 fps with excellent accuracy my favorite plinking load is a 357 case ,fed spp, 4.5 gr of tight group at 1027 fps in my marlin 357 mag with a 2x7 leupold at 1027 fps you dont need a gas check allthough i usually shoot 100 + rounds at a time and the barrel does get warm but not hot , well i tried the 4.5 load without gas checks and here are my results 25 shot group at 50 yards 19 shots in 7/8 of a inch the other 6 opened it up to 1 1/2 and i shot 10 more at 50 yards & 7 went in 5/8 & the other 3 opened it to 1 1/4 and this was a gusty day! also i had no leading just the normal gray streaks on the rifleing after firing 100 rounds in about 45 min. post your results if you try no gas checks. thanks bob
