Greeting Gents,

What has been your findings in load development for slick sided bullets.

I had a so-so experience withslick sided and wanted to give them another try.

I won't use them as when they take off the Grooves they sell them surplus to Waksupi, who then sells them at a mark up. I'll be darned if I support his bad habits.

On the other hand... I have only used tham as dimpled and graphite coated in 38 wad cutters. Trying for more accuracy and for me at least leading was as bad as factory 3D loads.

"Slick sided" as what? A FMJ? A plated bullet? Like a swaged wadcutter w/dry lube? Or a bullet w/o lube grooves designed for PCing?

Cast boolit without lube grooves

I have a couple of NLG (no lube groove) molds for PC and have not seen any difference in accuracy with them.

I run them alot, and haven't had any problems. I tend to mostly run them subsonic. Also the ones I have designed shoot just as good as standard lube groove bullets. I also hi-tech coat them.

I buy/use no groove PC and Hi tek coated pistol bullets because they feed more reliably thru Hornady feeding dies than grooved bullets.
I have never done any comparison shooting of grooved/non-grooved bullets to identify any velocity/accuracy differences:oops:.

This sounds like an insidious way to interfere with my business. It may call for a lawsuit, as I think my butt is hurt!

No worries Waksupi. I know only your loob grooves fit my Asperly Aimless!

I've got a few bandless molds:
1) 90 grain 30 caliber - it is gas checked and a truncated cone. I shoot it under AA7 and W296 in my Tokarev with velocities around 1500-1600 fps
2) 125 grain 357 cal - gas checked. I shoot it under AA7 in a .357 sig around 1400 fps.
3) 190 grain 40 cal - plain base. Shoot that under AA7 in a .40 S&W around 900 fps.

These are all very accurate.

I powder coat all my boolits because it is less messy, easier and I can tweak the sizing to my gun easier. I PC then do a push through LEE die -- I've ordered a lot of custom ones...
