Gents,

If youre ever told that a WFN boolit isnt accurate at distance...disregard that advice please. I thought the same and would give up when I got a fist sized group at 100 yards and call it good.

Disclaimer....Do not trust Internet load data. Not even mine. I was scared of the 300 MP load as I was 2 full grains over what Alliant lists for a 270 grain Jacketed bullet.

The 44 Hammer mold casts at 275 grains as a .434 solid. It resized easy to .4325 in a modified Lee Push through that a member opened up for me here. The Penta casts at 265 and the Small HP casts a tad lighter. Closer to 260. I rotated between 3 rifles Ruger 77/44 and two modified Handi Rifles.

I started with H110 which is my go to powder for full power loads. I worked all the way up from 21.5-24 Grains. No pressure signs throughout the charge range. Accuracy was so close between 22.5 and 23.5, I had to go back to the range twice to see what shot best.

1. Solid- 275 Grain Boolit- 22.5 Grains of H110, WLPP, Powder Coated in Smokes Clear and heat treated for 30 minutes at 460 degrees.

Excellent Accuracy Less than 2 inches at 100, No Pressure Signs. Tested 50 or so shots. Proofed load.

2. Solid- 275 Grain Boolit- 23.5 Grains of 300 MP, WLPP, Powder Coated in Smokes Clear and heat treated for 30 minutes at 460 degrees.

Most Accurate Load Tested than 1 inch at 100, No Pressure Signs. I worked all the way up from 22-24 Grains. 22 and 23 were the first session. I was still getting spradic ignition and crept up slowly from 23-24. Tested 50 or so shots. Proofed load.

3. Solid- 275 Grain Boolit- 10.5 Unique, WLPP, Powder Coated in Smokes Clear and heat treated for 30 minutes at 460 degrees.

Excellent Accuracy Less than 2 inches at 100, No Pressure Signs. Tested 20 or so shots. Proofed load. This is my go to load for a variety of boolits in this weight range.

4. HP- 265 Grain Boolit- 11.0 Unique, WLPP, Powder Coated in Smokes Clear and heat treated for 30 minutes at 460 degrees.

2nd Most Accurate Load Tested 1.5 inch at 100, No Pressure Signs. The Small HP Pin will expand with a variety of Alloys and has enough meat at the rim not to blow up. Tested 20 or so shots. Proofed load. My new Pistol and single shot iron sighted load. Groups right with the HG503 Clone.

That is some serious shooting at 100 yds. You are making me wonder why I passed in that buy.

Any chrono data ?

I bought one because Miha's hollow point molds are amazing, it was 44 cal and I didn't need it. I used to have a few unnecessary molds and having replaced the necessary molds this looked strange and new.

The fit and finish on this mold is the best ever. No binding of the sliding pins from the start, almost no break in period. The pentas pins are smooth as a baby's behind.

May have to get a lever gun now.

Just to make sure it wasnt a fluke...I did one more test shoot before I batch reloaded this one. And once again...23.5 300 MP and the 275 Grain Hammer did right at an inch at 100 yards. And thats with a 200 dollar gun, 100 dollar scope and rest setup that makes you hold on, thrown powder charges and Plain Base boolets only... visually inspected. Just the kind of forgiving load that makes a perfect hunting load.

No more than with H110, Lil Gun or 2400

Just a quick follow up here. 300 MP is a fantastic powder. I cut my groups in half in almost every 44 magnum load that I tried in it. Both jacketed and cast from 240-280 grains. The lower pressure gives you a wider window to find a good load.

Any other experiences with this boolit or powder?

Those particular "$200 guns" are generally very accurate. All mine have been.
Good shootin'!

I'm going to have to try some 300MP. I purchased a pound some time ago to try out in my 44's, but have yet to get there.

I'm looking at these results and thinking of moving that powder back up to the front of the cabinet.
