How I Load Now

I got my bullets for my Werndl paper patched, 355grs. Wrapped them oversize, Bore a tapered die to size them to .453 and used Beaver Grease Lub from CBE- Austrial onthem. Its been so long since I loaded balck I am not sure what to do, I want to use 5 grs. of Dupont PB powder for a duplex load, 75 grs. Dupont 2 F well put it to the base of the bullet with just a little to compress, Now I have red dental wax that is about .100 thick. Should it put that under the base. Should I make a gease cookie, I have a ribbon maker. Also have .100 card wads. How should I load with what I have. I want a Duplxes load as I remember 20 yeras ago it shot clean in the 40-65, Thanks for the help. Joe

................I'd for sure put a card wad under the boolit. So far as a lube cookie goes, shoot some without one and see what happens. No sense complicating things if ya don't have to.

Loaded up 20 rds. and out to the range, 5 grs. PB, 70 grs. 2 ff, A .100 card wad, PP greased mauser bullet 446110 to .453 size, 1-24 alloy, powder compressed about 1/8 of a inch. About the best group was 3 shots at 3 -1/2, everthing thing went to 9 in. or all over, Best shots were with the paper patch glued on, Now what should I try. Joe

Joe; are you wiping or using a blow tube between shots? Even with the 5gr of PB there is going to be a lot of fouling.

Jeff: Bore was clean after shooting, but I cleaned after 10 shots and not very dirty. I bored a die to size the bullets and a new one to size the PP bullets again, I used the the 446110 mauser bullet PP ,Maybe the gun dont like that one with 1-28 twist, Going back now to the Lyman Gould 330 gr. , Lee 310gr. and 2 of CBEs .437 JW and a .441 expermintal bullet. Have to leave them at. 453.Hope to get out shoot but its getting below freezeing here now. Got them ready toload, Do you think a .100 card wad behine the bullet would case bad groups, Thanks- JOe

I am still new to this paper patch thing,but I have found if I make my bullet to bore dia. and patch up using .002 paper my accuracy is way better than gong with the groove dia..I am talking the 45-120 now of course..And my alloy is about 40 to 1 for the bullets...Good luck in your adventure....:drinks:
