No, It is not at Whittakers. I was told about it, come to find out it is a 39AS Used ( not an 1897 Cowboy) and he is saying it is new. You can tell by looking it has had a scope on it. It also has a few scratches on it. I offered $300 and he wouldn't take it. Is it worth $360???

Rick have you ever been to Whittaker's? This place is between me and Whitt's, in Sebree. Little hole in the wall place. Several guns and high prices.

I go to Whittaker's every chance I get! Our son lives about an hour from there & we'll often go over to Owensboro when the wife & I go up there for a visit. I've not heard of Whitt's nor have I heard of Sebree.

Whitts is just short for Whittakers. Sebree is just west of Whittakers about 15 miles. In Webster county. I live about 25 miles west of Whittakers.

I would say that is not a super great deal on the 39. They are nice rifles, but you could probably buy a new one for 400 if you shopped hard. I love those 1897, I'd love to have one.

Well I was taking it all in until I saw the word Owensboro. Now I've lost my train of thought!
All I can think of now is:
Moonlite Inn
Ummmm..... [clear throat] Someone a, say something about um... a 39AS ? Been seeing a few here and there lately. Pawn price running around $375 here 90-95%

Here is a picture of my 1897 Cowboy with a Malcolm scope. [1897 Cowboy] is stamped on the barrel to identify them.

Thanks Doc. If I find one of these I will be getting it. (if I have the $). This one was for sure a 39AS. I looked at it. What is the difference between a 39A and a 39AS?
