I was in the little range down from where I work the other day and they had 2-Marlin rifles in there for sale on consignment.

I couldn't decide which one to buy so went home to think about it. After all, I had just bought 2-rifles already the week before. My daughter's boyfriend ( a home loan guy) called to tell me my refinance had gone thru so what could I do?

One is an 1893 .30-30 with a fine bore-yeah for smokeless! the other one was a 336 24" barrelled rifle with a checkered stock and non-micro-groove rifling in .35 Remington.

I just have to wait out the 10 days & then go pick em up! I was wondering what would be a good boolit to shoot in this thing. I have the 180 RF ramrodded by Michael aka .357 max. Wondered if there were any other recommendations.

I guess when it rains it pours! Rifles coming out of the woodwork...

I tried that bullet in a 336 in 35 Rem. If I crimped it in the crimping groove, it engaged the rifling when chambering.

I think the Lyman #358315 would be a better choice.

Do you have a 10 day waiting period in CA????

Just my thoughts !

For the marlin 1893 in 30-30 give some thought to the Lyman 311041 , the RCBS 30-150GC and the Ranch Dog 311-165GC .

For the 336ADL in 35 REM give some thought to the RCBS 35-200GC and the new Ranch Dog 359-190GC . And if you can get one of the older version Ranch Dog 359-180GC that's a pretty darned good bullet as well !

If you want either of the Ranch Dog bullets ;

And again these are just my somewhat biased opinions [smilie=1:

Thanks as usual for the help. I will try & collect a few .35 Rem cases from a guy at work who was going to save me his brass & then try out a few with my pistol moulds and keep my eyes open for a rifle mould.

.35 sounds like a great caliber to play with.

I have some WW RCBS-180's and some 180hp's from an old Ideal mold here. The are sized .358 and are GC'd. If you want a handfull to try let me know.

Thank you kindly part_timer. Mighty nice of you to offer. I have already gotten together a bunch of .358 boolits and will someday get a chance off from work to do some loading.

With the way things are, I'm glad to be working. Seems it's feast or famine for me all the way around.

I go in this Saturday to bring home my .35 Rem and .30-30 Marlin rifles. Who knows what they put in the rack since the last time I was in.

thank you again foryour kind offer

It's a standing offer whenever you get the time. We're going to play some this weekend with a 10" max in a contender.
