Al don't know who made or makes that but it is a 98 mauser take down in 30-06

The pic is too small to show the fine wood, all tiger striped

I bought a greek steyr mannlicher in 6.5x54 caliber some years back. Unfortunately the bbl while it has what COULD be called rifling has seen better days. Along with the rifle came either four or five boxes of midway 6.5x54 ammo, looks to be loaded with the hornady 160 gr roundnosed bullet. Maybe, just maybe one of these days I'll get the old girl rebarrelled, have a butterknife bolt handle put on and redo the stock. In any event this rifle is one fine example of the gunsmiths art. Had a chance to get a gen-u-ine mannlicher carbine also some years back. Unfortunately some one had the receiver side wall drilled and tapped for a side mount, and then plugged the holes with plastic steel. But considering the relative rarity of the carbine I really should have bought it. But those were my salad days, green and mixed up. Bet we all can tell tales of firearms that we had a chance to but then did not.
And then regretted not making the purchase. Frank

I'll bet that 9.5mm bullet at 2100 FPS comes back right smartly in that delightfully light rifle.
