Just had to share - Came in to my first honest-to-goodness Winchester lever guns last week. (I've always been a Marlin man - and for cowboy shooting am setting up a repro '66.) There was a Win. Ranger '94 in 30-30 and a 44 Magnum Mod. 94AE carbine. Bought them both at under $300, which I thought was good, since they have no silly safety like the modern Marlins and were in nearly-new shape. The stock on the 30-30 has had all the finish removed, so I've got a project for this Winter.

Now, I just need to get some 30-30 brass and a new 30-cal. mould for some fun!

Slug the bore on the .44; they seem to run .432" groove diameter.

Thanks guys. Now my problem is finding some brass and moulds. I've got two 30-cal moulds, neither of which are quite right for the 30-30. I've got plans for a group buy 30-cal mould, but that will have to wait until after next year, so I'll make do for now.

The 44 I've got covered. As a Marlin man, I'm used to oversized bores! [smilie=1: I've got a 431 and 433 sizer die, and will find what works for this new Winchester. The part I'm really happy about is that I now have one 44 Magnum carbine from each of the major manufacturers - Marlin, Winchester, and Ruger. The Ruger, being a gas gun, is not very cast boolit friendly, and the Marlin feeds Keith SWCs like butter, so this Winchester is probably going to fall somewhere in-between those two in favoritism, but accuracy could win me over! (I'd ditch the Ruger, but the darn thing shoots unbelievably accurately and is one of the old ones with the factory peep sight...)

While I'm scrounging, anyone got any 41 Mag brass???

Don't know about the 44 in the 94, but I've got a 45 in the 94 and it will feed anything. I shoot two loads in it light load with the RCBS270SAA, and the Cast Performance WLN360, feeds and shoots both like butter. If the 44 is like this, should feed anything you want. Mine likes cast too, never shot a jacketed load out of it.

Ben just posted a nice 30cal mold in the swap section.

I love my 94 in 45 colt.

My 94 Trails End .44 Mag feeds everything I have thrown in there so far, all the Keith versions, etc., and the 310 Lazer cast.

Check with oldhickory in Sawpping and Selling. I bought several hundred 30-30's from him. They were reasonably priced and his count was generous.

Thanks Shutzen, will do that.

Just found a 3-lb. coffee can of Magma 240gr SWCs mixed in with a bunch of lead I was sorting. Been down in the shop sizing and lubing them. Will have some ammo to try out the new beast with if the weather ever gets nicer...

The 429640's will work great in that 44 Winchester,

I've been looking for a 44 Winnie... I'm jealous.

I have two Rossi 1892's in 44 Mag and a 41 Mag and 44 Mag Marlin 1894 but no Winchesters.

I have several Winchester 94's in 30-30, and a 375 Winchester 94.

I just got a line on another 94AE in 30-30 with an oversize bore that will become a 35/30-30 this winter.

To me, the Winchester 94's just feel better than anything else in my hands.

Have fun,
