I recently ordered and paid for a barrel slugging kit on eBay from a vendor in Springfield, Missouri. Residing 1,236.5 miles EAST of Missouri, I'd have thought this is the direction USPS might ship it. I just checked TRACKING, for kicks and giggles, and indeed got quite the "giggle"!
Can anyone have any idea why they sent this roughly five-to-six pound package 3,965 miles from Springfield to Honolulu; with them (hopefully!!!) sending it another 4,852 miles west to my residence?
And I wonder why the costs of stamps keep going up....

P.S.: Albeit they suggested delivery for today... package still in Hawaii, me thinks it shan't be placed in mailbox today ;)

I had a Fedex package start 50 miles east of me and then go to Chicago IL, Kansas City MO, Olathe KS, Osseo, MN and then finally back to Des Moines. Note that the trip from Olathe Ks to Osseo MN would have taken the package right through Des Moines on I-35... Not quite the miles that your package will see but it boggled my mind.

Maybe the barrel slugging kit wanted to do some surfing on Waikiki Beach before being smashed down your bores.

Maybe they are taking the long way around. I have a pair of bisley ram’s horn grips out for delivery today, and am praying they are not damaged.

Put a hold on the package and go to Hawaii to get it.

Looks like it got tossed on the wrong cargo plane. At least it isn’t riding the Jim Jones express!

If I send a check thru the mail to my land Lord 5 mi away it has to go all the way to Spokane WA and back some 200 mi away that's 400 mi total and a week to go 5 mi. So he comes and gets it now. our society hasn't made much sense probably since the 50s

This is because it needs to be logged in by the NSA at the nearest center, both sides scanned and x-ray.

It obviously was put on the wrong cargo plane, I once watched a package I was expecting go up and down the east coast bouncing around from Florida to Maine to Virginia but never made it to NY. I wound up back in FL 4 weeks later where it was mailed. Had all the correct info on the label & on line shipping info.

George, even slugging kits need a vacation.

Ordered a gun from classic firearms they shipped USPS.
USPS only tried to deliver it once to my FFL buddy, didn't leave a note and shipped it back to classic firearms that same day

Over the years, I've had multiple letters and packages that I have shipped or have had shipped to me lost or returned to sender. Have never been able to figure it out--no rhyme nor reason to it. I just think it is like leprechauns or evil fairies that float around, randomly doing their job. Or, lackadasical postal workers not doing theirs. Most memorable is the 8 cavity H-G mold lost in the mail. Package got there, mold didn't. Cost me $160.00. Filed paperwork, called individual postal stations. Nothing came of it. Oh well. Do we get cycnical as we get older? No, we just have more experience with the idiots of the world.

I had one that was supposed to go from here, Jackson Michigan, to the Daytona Florida area. It went to the Disneyland Area in California. When I asked the local clerk that had processed it for me if the next stop was the Philippines she told me with out hesitation that I didn’t have to worry about that since there was no Customs form on it and the Philippines would be International Mail. They might send it to Guam but it would definitely not go to the Philippines.
It did show up in Florida where it belonged a couple days later.

UPDATE: Bion or not, USPS tracking shows it to be "Out for Delivery" -- gosh, it appears not to have been in Hawaii long enough to get a tan! Here's the trackings -- I'm keeping the fingers crossed it will be the correct package...240507240508
