I finally got to shoot my 1889 with a tang sight installed.

After only a few adjustments, I was able to score 5 1/2", 6 1/4" and 6 1/2" groups at 100 yards. I could not see the yellow @ 100 yards so I was somewhat guessing where the center was since I had the targets tacked onto white poster board. I am not a Marksman so I call this good for this old boy!

I also shot a Reloder 7 group in my 44-40 Uberti, 7 1/2" Magnum frame revolver @ 25 yards

Pretty neat, thanks for sharing. I bet It'll do better when you have a more defined sight picture.

That tang sight looks right at home on that rifle and for my eyes the only iron sights I can get deer hunting size groups at 100 yards.
Nice job.

Yeah, I get much better sighting results by using targets with a much larger, high contrast center - like black on white.

Wavering on the large center can be minimized by using a 6-O'clock hold (when shooting for group or zero, hi location doesn't matter as long as the POI coincides with the POA).

I also use black on fluorescent yellow Shoot-N-C targets that show hits in the black with a bright yellow ring around the shot (I use a spotting scope for hit verification).
