Hello,
I have a unused and unfired 38 S&W cartridge conversion cylinder for sale. This cylinder is made to convert your Colt style .36 black powder revolver to shoot .38 S&W cartridges. The cylinder is made by Legal Defender, and looks like a predecessor to the Kirst Konversions. Comes in original box and also with a manual with instructions on how to assemble the kit onto your revolver. Parts C,D, and E are missing.
I'm asking $140 and Free shipping.
I accept money orders for payment.
First "I'll take it" gets it.
Thank you!
Ben

C, D & E are missing - I was able to bring your photo up and evidently these are the firing pin and firing pin parts?

Since different makes of C & B revolvers are not equal - i.e. cylinder length, frame opening dimensions, etc. as well as indexing star and circumference of center of chambers for proper alignment with forcing cone - can you advise what brand does this fit? ASM, Pietta, Uberti, Palmetto, etc. ? What information is provided in the instruction sheet in regards to brands this fits and are dimensions provided for parts C, D and E since these will have to be custom made. Thanks.

Hello Billy,
I did some research, and have read that people have used them in Pietta's, but I would think that with some modifying it can fit in other models like Uberti. Maybe somebody who already owns a Legal Defender conversion kit can chime in and tell us more? I'm going to go over the muzzleloading section and ask, and get back with you about it.
Thanks,
Ben

I have fitted these and they are for steel frame only and can be fir to most of the 1851 navy style and copies. It will take some work. BUT if you expect to hit anything you will need hollow base bullets or load heeled bullets.

The reason it's chambered for 38 S&W aka Short , New Police , 38-200 etc is the .361-.364 bullet dia like the 9×18 Mak .

Information only and a free bump from page 7 of my daily visit .

38 S and W ammo has been changed to 358 diameter for quite some time and a 51 Navy bore is closer to 370. This is and excellent price and this is a nice kit, if I had a spre Navy I would be jumping on it but I am currently converting a 36 Remington.

As I previously asked . . .

What information is provided in the instruction sheet in regards to brands this fits and are dimensions provided for parts C, D and E since these will have to be custom made. Thanks.

Can you provide information on what the instruction sheet says about makes/brands of pistols this kit is for as well as information about the parts that are missing? Cylinders of '51 Navies and other models made by different manufacturers are not always interchangeable. The instructions should provide that info. I am assuming that the firing pin is retained in the recoil shield? Thanks.

From the research I did, these kits are supposed to fit a variety of makes and models, (i.e Uberti, Pietta etc), they just need to be fitted to each gun. The instructions don't specify which brands, it just says for colt navy style cap and ball reproductions. No dimensions are listed in the instructions for the parts, but I do know that the firing pin is retained in the ring that goes on the cylinder.
Hope this helps!
Ben
