My thoughts on this, Over all I am very pleased with is mold. This is the first time I have ever messed with a Loverin style. When the mold reached temp, the bullets were kinda hard to leave the mold (it took a few raps). Hornaday gas check is a snug slip on fit. Next week I hope to have time to work on some loads.

db2...Thanks for the results. Looks like these molds are doing about what we expect. I did my first production run yesterday and added 25% 30-1 (tin to lead) to my pot to soften the alloy a mite. They were still running 300 on the nose, .301 on the first two bands and .314-.315 on the remaining body bands. These are of course rounded averages.

Some others are getting a little less, but I chalk that up to alloy and temp. All in all it looks like these molds are within tolerances for the specs and that makes me feel good.

I have a Lyman 311467 that runs .300 on the nose, .301 on the top two bands and .312 on the remaining body bands. It is of course a little longer as we had to drop one band to get the bullet to fit in the Lee six hole blocks. This bullet is a crackerjack, and our group buy should do as well, but have a meplat and weight ten grains or so less.

While rating around yesterday, I found a box of 500 bullets I cast in 1983. There were from fresh Linotype straight from the foundry and were from another 311467 mold but this time it was a 311467 U (underesize). These bullets run .299 on the nose, .302 on the top band, .304 on the next band, and .309 on the remaining body bands.

I have no idea what Guy Loverin's original specs were for these molds, but over it's life Lyman has ground cherries with quite a variety of specs. Some folks have reported Lyman 311467 molds with all the band the same width.

The few shooting reports that are coming in are "quick and dirty" in terms of load development, but this bullet looks like it is going to work as planned. It will never be a target bullet, but should make an outstanding field bullet in a big variety of 30 cal rifles both normal and fat.

A llittle off subject here, but I have a 311466 that has all the bands the same size.

Whaddya mean not a target boolit. It will be for me!
