Anyone casting and shooting cast from one?

Mines a early Colt Match 38. Haven't shot it in some time and wanted to try some PC thru it.

I have a Lyman 150G RN mold. Don't remember the number off top of my head. Its a .357 mold.

I do. I use the LEE 356-120-TC loaded under a max charge of HP-38 crazy accurate. I shoot it out of a colt government model.

I just started down the 38 Super road.

I have always wanted one but for some reason I had never bought one.

Last month I was in a local gun store and they had a Rock Island 1911 in 38 Super, used, for $350. It had upgraded sights, (adjustable rear and fiber optic front).

I jumped on it.

I shot two boxes of factory rounds through it for the brass. Function was flawless and the accuracy is excellent.

I have since fired about 150 rounds of my own 124 gr RN bullets loaded over 9.7 gr of A #7 or 6.4 gr of Unique.

It's a very fun round and I kick myself for waiting so long to get one.

I've been shooting cast 38 Super for over 30 years. Anything from 100 to 150 gr that will feed will work. Lots of powder options. If you want some detail, PM me.

I use to shoot 158gr 357 boolits for bowling pins. Mine has a comp on it and leads the comp but not the barrel. I just shot some pc 125 gr boolits in it and cured the comp leading problem. Loving pc boolits!

My son has one. When he first got it, we loaded the Lyman 356402 as that's what we had and it feeds them well and is accurate with them. Wish I could weasel it out of him./beagle

I use the Lyman 358480 as my "go to" boolit in the Super. The boolit diameter and weight are right in line with the original specs for this caliber. I seat boolits in the cases so as to leave a very slight amount of the forward shoulder outside the case, don't have immediate access to my notes on measured COL but have never had an issue with feeding up into the chamber. My pistol is a Colt Lightweight Commander, pre-70 series, no modifications after it was made. That said, it would probably produce tighter groups with a barrel where the cases headspace on the case mouth rather than the rim but I am reluctant to alter this early variant.
