Good morning
FIRST what are your chamber throat diameters ? Does your Boolit FILL those ? If yes then..
You can tumble lube any boolit at that velocity... I load all sorts of tumble lube boolits ( WW water dropped) to 1000+ ... A lot depends on the Lead MIX and how you cool the boolit.
But at 900 fps you can shoot pure lead... if your boolit is large enough for the Cylinders (revolver) or the chamber... this is the key.. SEAL the gasses !

shotman--Do you have any other .44 cal boolits besides 429360? The reason I ask is my experience with this design in both solid and HP version has been less than satisfactory. I have never been able to obtain good groups with this design and, quite frankly, I gave up. I know of a few other .44 shooters who have also experienced poor results with this boolit. Therefore any experiments with tumble lube MAY not give good results, and it wouldn't necessarily be the fault of the tumble lube. In my 45 years experience with the .44mag and cast boolits, 429360 is the ONLY design I've not been able to get to perform to my satisfaction. As missionary 5155 mentioned, throat diameter is very important.

I have never gotten the 429360 to shoot very well. The 429421 is a MUCH more accurate bullet.

I agree---I tried many loads with the 429360 and none were all that good. Seems with the 429421 no load was bad.

shotman, What Glen, Missionary, Shuz & Wally said is 100% true. Why? Because #429360 has an undersized front driving band, or rather, one that is undersized for "modern" .44cal. cylinder throat dimensions whereas #429421 is not. I've tried them both in my 2 yr. old Ruger SBH using 8grs. Unique and got excellent results from the latter, but poor grouping from -360 (long since sold for that reason). Btw, Glen's article on the LASC site explains this in much greater detail and is most informative about the Thompson v. Keith designs.

your front band is your first contact with the guns bbl.
unless your cylinder and bbl are askew. then the nose is.
if the band is too small it is probably hesitating in the throat and blowing the lube off in the cylinder gap.
not to mention going in the bbl crooked.
