New reloading table ready for press mounting

Yes, but it’s top heavy, after some ply wood added to bottom, and 1000# of WW ingots

BIL gave that table to me back in the late 70’s, said it was a machine table from Barksdale AFB. And if I could load it I could have it. Was a struggle but me and a come-a-long got her did. The whole top is like an anvil.

Got it cleaned up and painted yesterday. Been in my big shop last 18 yrs. as an engine table, has had quite a few old Jeep blocks on it. Next it will be dressed with Dillon and RCBS presses, hope it can stand the strain. LOL

IIRC, I saw one like that stashed away in an old machine shop. Mebbe a "lay out" table?

I would definitely recommend mounting your big presses for heavy duty resizing on the ends of that bench so it doesn't flip over on you like my 40 pound wooden bench does when I mounted the presses on the side of it. I think I need one like that!

The top also has ribs under neith to support top from flexing, and all around the edge, all made of this 1” thick steal. I estimated the weight by what my front end loader will lift, about 700#, it was a load to get from big shop to barn reload room. And get thru double door, quite a bit of maneuvering.

We had one similar to that at work. Somehow it disappeared about 2-3 years before I retired. It was about the same length but about half again as wide. It had the largest vise I had ever seen mounted on it. I think it came from a plant in Pennsylvania that closed.

Just looking at the picture you posted, I would estimate the weight at over 800 lbs. If the top is 1"X 8' X 2', it alone would weigh 650lbs.

Went back and recalculated 28” X 76” X1” real measurement size with ribs under neith and came up with 602 for top alone. Add presses and bottom load would be about another 100# then load bottom with ply wood shelf and 1000# WW and SOWW were over 1700# don’t think it will move around any. Got the 650 mounted last night and the RCBS single stage mounted this morning.

My size estimate was off but it still comes up very heavy. That 1" steel reinforcement underneath ain't light. I hope your plywood shelf is up to holding all those lead ingots. You could always reinforce with a short 2X4 that fit between the lower stretchers that would also keep the plywood from shifting, although that would be a remote possibility. I've always been a belt and suspenders guy.

That is the heaviest table I have ever seen. It would be a joy to work on a table like that. Just drilling holes for mounting the various pieces of equipment would be a job. My assortment of bits would need to be upgraded for me to tackle that project. Its a very nice table just the same and you will enjoy it for the rest of your life.

Used to use tables like that for welding tables these will last forever very nice.

If you were closer I'd lend you my Milwaukee magnetic drill to bore the holes for presses, you are gonna get tired with a hand drill.Thats also a great table for a barrel vise.
