Good Day Folks

We all are familiar with bullet diameter/fit, alloy, lube, coatings and the effect they have on leading in the barrel.

What about high volume shooting and a hot barrel? Is it reasonable to shoot 200 rounds in 20minutes or so and not expect leading.

Not sure if I have read anything on this before and what realistic expections are in this regard

You should never have an expectation of leading. If leading is occurring you’re doing something wrong.

Don't know about high volume/ 200 rounds in 20 minutes. I only have 6 mags and have dumped them in +/- 1 minute. Or 54 rounds in +/- 1 minute. It's nothing to do 500 round+ range sessions with cast/coated bullets in a 1911 chambered in 9mm. The shooting is nothing more than general range play with bowling pins involved, dueling trees, steel, paper, silhouette targets, etc. Typically in the 500+ round range sessions there's 2 or 3 events with 6 mag/54 round dumps.

What that 1911 looks like after 1 of those 500+ round range session.

Same bbl after using a jag and 1 wet patch with hope's #9 and then 1 dry patch. No brushing involved.

The load I was using is a 125gr cast/coated bullet doing 1100fps with a +/- 25,000psi load. Accuracy is outstanding from the 1st pull of the trigger to the last pull of the trigger. This is what I consider outstanding accuracy for that 1911 chambered in 9mm.

I really don't see why you couldn't dump 200 rounds in 20 minutes with a cast/coated bullet in the 9mm.

This! The gun can also cause leading, though.

Ok thanks guys. That’s kind of what I figured. I’ll start another thread on the particular issues I am having.
