I'm looking for advice on alloy for both 30-30 and .45 acp. I have both Lyman #2 from rotometals and pure PBS. I'd like to make my mix good for both hunting and target practice. Advice please

read this
http://www.lasc.us/CastBulletNotes.htm

after you read that, you'll see that you will be better off, to have two different alloys for those two calibers.
BUT...
if you really want only one alloy, I'd suggest 95-2.5-2.5 (mixing your lyman #2 with pure PB at a 50-50 rate), It will probably work OK if you 30-30 hunting loads aren't too hot (keep pressure below 25Kpsi).

I have used the 94-2.5-2.5 in .308 with good results, mostly using Unique & 2400.

For pistol ammo, especially low pressure 45acp, I rarely even give alloy a thought. You can shoot pure lead sized & lubed/coated properly. For all my service pistol stuff I am fine with range scrap, about 9-10bhn. So I would mix your lyman #2 at 2 lead-1 #2 for the 45acp boolits.
