that lyman 457122 threw the wheel weights at 458, ran it thru the lubrisizer with a 459 die, and used thompson red angel lube...

Lookin' GOOD! What was your load? Us guys with the Siamese Mausers are curious!

BTW, looks like the boiling of the head for Tamales is sort of not going to happen?:shock:

45.5 grains of Re7 gave me 1650 fps and no apparent leading (after 30 or so rounds at the range)

Thanks, Mac,

Put it in my "Loads to Try" listing.

Too bad about the ruined "tamale" fixings. I've always enjoyed eating them, but after one time of helping to prepare it, I gave it up to just eating!:bigsmyl2:

The 457122 is a really good bullet. I use 40.0 gr IMR 4198 in my 45/70. I have taken 4 or 5 deer with it and all of them were DRT. I get about 2 or 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with this load. Velocity is probably around 1650. Good shooting MacGregor.

Good math;
.45-70 + pig = pork.
I am using 45gr Rel 7 and 40 g IMR 4198 with the Lee 405, with an added gas check and getting 1600+fps , and 1 1/2 " groups with my Handiifle.

Here is another, 500gr Lee 3R with added gas check, 39gr H4895, 1430fps, 3 shots at 50 yds, image attached. This was shot last Thursday.
Don't know what the problem is, but the "manage attachments" button does not work.

i tried the 405's they were too much, punched right thru the skull, might as well have been FMJ...
