Take a look here.

There is the Cast Bullet Book and several other good references as well.

The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook is pretty good too.

This would make a good start. Too bad they didn't include load info. If they had this book wouldn't have gone out of print, IMHO. :drinks:

That is a good book especially on heat treating and quenching, my copy has load data in it for RCBS cast boolits.

The Lyman book is hard to beat. Make sure you get the CAST book. There are others around, but any of the older Lyman books are good. The rest you can pick up right here. There is a lot of MIS INFORMATION out there, you'll get it straight here. Look through the posts and you'll get it figured out. Some one here had a couple of "slide shows" on casting too that were really helpful for beginners.

Start out thinking like a Marine attack aviator- Low, slow and accurate. Avoid anyone who starts talking HARD!!! boolits. Save that stuff for specialized applications. Straight WW works fine in many apps up into the 1500 fps range. Experiment, observe and learn.

I would agree with what Bret said, I would add that the older Lyman manuals run pretty cheap on ebay, and that's a great place to start. You kind of re-live some of the past that way... you will also find that one Lyman manual will have a load listed for a boolit you have, the next edition it might not be there, so it's nice to build up several volumes. Also consider picking up some older Handloader magazines for the same reasons.

This is the Lyman book you want:

Another excellent resource for me has been the Wolfe Publishing Company Art of Bullet Casting Collection on DVD. This is a collection of articles taken from the pages of Handloader and Rifle magazines over more years than I care to remember. This DVD is sold from their website and available at MidwayUSA too.

This is a great site with many articles about casting bullets:

The RCBS Cast Bullet Manual is good too but out of print. You can usually find one at a gun show or on e-bay.
